Commenting on some cuts from John McCain’s speech:
-” I have opposed wasteful spending by both parties and the Bush administration. Senator Obama has supported it and proposed more of his own. I want to freeze discretionary spending until we have completed top to bottom reviews of all federal programs to weed out failing ones. Senator Obama opposes that reform. ”
I wish we could compare military spending with the costs of the various federal programs he has in mind. Is he by any chance not counting war spending?
-”Senator Obama proposes to keep spending money on programs that make our problems worse and create new ones that are modeled on big government programs that created much of the fiscal mess we are in. He plans to pay for these increases by raising taxes on seniors, parents, small business owners and every American with even a modest investment in the market. ”
It would also be good to know just how few or how many Americans have any kinds of investments. I somehow doubt this number is quite so large.
-”We are not people who believe only in the survival of the fittest. ”
I think that the reduction of government control that McCain supports is basically laissez faire and that really is survival of the fittest. It’s tough to decide whether it’s a good or bad concept, but I’m just pointing out the contradictions
