The two candidates certainly give the Democrats reason for hope and pride. We can be proud that we get to choose between the greater of two goods rather than the lesser of two evils. While there are differences, I can happily support either of them (but I am still an Obama Woman).
There was a real downside though. Unfortunately Wolf Blitzer kept trying to turn an adult discussion about important issues and policy differences into a WWE Thursday Night Smack Down. Blitzer’s bear-baiting was a real distraction and showed a lack of respect for the debate process, the candidates, and the desires of the voters. We want to hear the candidates’ positions on issues, not whether they felt insulted, snubbed, or criticized by some aside from the the other’s camp. I was heartened to hear the audience boo Blitzer on his cheap-shot at Sen. Clinton’s being “naive” in her Iraq vote. CNN is usually pretty good at these things, but I am thinking that maybe there is a better paying position over at FOX News that Wolfie wants.
