Heard in a Berlin Basement…

The Berlin band Contriva plays an elegant style of indie pop, as heard on four albums to date. We joined two members of the group at their cozy basement studio in Berlin’s Pankow neighborhood, where they played a couple of acoustic versions of their songs. While this was literally an underground performance, we may be hearing more of them in the U.S. in the next year.

An interesting detail about our session with Contriva: their studio is in Masha’s parents’ basement. They couldn’t have been more generous, either, offering us excellent coffee after our long walk from the U-Bahn station. A lovely way to spend an afternoon. Thanks, Masha and Rike!
