American Music Video Festival
By David Garland
May 30, 2008
Our annual American Music Festival concludes Friday with music chosen by John Zorn, and with two American song-cycles: a rarity from the 1950s — a young Barbara Cook singing Seymour Barab’s setting of Dorothy Parker texts, “Songs of Perfect Propriety,” and Chris Thile’s new bluegrass song-cycle “The Blind Leaving the Blind.” But you can continue the festival with these videos of musicians who have been featured in this year’s Fest. Enjoy the visuals! Let me know what you think!

David, thank you for that delicious slice of Leonard Cohen.
Trying to think of a catchy phrase for your Songs Revisited… echoes, rideux (not sure about the spelling)encore… maybe it doesn’t have to be catchy, just truthful…

The photos are beautiful. Sorry you are hot. Cold drinks work best.

I can’t deny my infatuation for Ella Fitzgerald’s voice and voicing. I loved that piece with Jo Stafford. Singing and talking back and forth is not as easy as they are making it look.
