This Saturday dozens of twenty-something New Yorkers gathered at The Pit to discuss a TV show about high schoolers. It was the Ultimate Gossip Girl Summit, Part Deux hosted by comedian Sara Benincasa (most recently known for her YouTube vlogs impersonating Sarah Palin.)
Benincasa pulled together a panel which included a dozen journalists and comedians who are fans of the show. Many panelists like Richard Lawson and Jessica Pressler & Chris Rovzar make their living re-capping Gossip Girl episodes. Surprise guests included series author, Cecily von Ziegesar (gifted with a tiara reading “bitch” in blinking lights), and actress Zuzanna Szadkowski, who plays the Waldorf family maid, Dorota, on the show.
Jessica Wakeman was there, and asked Sara Benincasa to explain why this show strikes a particular chord with this media-savvy crowd in the midst of an economic crisis.
