Last night at SVA, a panel gathered to discuss the increasing popularity of street art — we spoke with artists and even an advertiser about this unique moment for the art form.

Plus, we take a look into Tin Pan Alley, the gritty 2-block strip of W. 28th Street, that was once home to America’s leading music publishers and songwriters that just went on the market. On WNYC’s Soundcheck, John Schaefer spoke with David A. Jasen, the author of several books on American popular song.

And we check in with cartoonist Kim Deitch about his upcoming event “Cartoon Movie Night with Kim Deitch” as part of his retrospective at MoCCA. The event will be rare opportunity for fans of his work to see the historical artifacts that inspired the narrative in Deitch’s graphic novel “Alias the Cat”.
